By Jayme Hull—

Do you ever just pray a quick prayer and then run out the door with your busy schedule and forget to be watching for the Lord’s answer? Last week, during my personal devotional time I ended with a very specific and simple prayer:

Lord, I want to be used by you to lead people to Christ.

Use me anyway you want and help me lead someone to You today. Amen!

Without a second thought, I grabbed my purse and went out the door to run my errands and meet with a few women I’m mentoring. While I was in the grocery store I ran into a woman I hadn’t seen for a long time and greeted her with my usual,

“How are you and God doing?” and before I knew it we were in a long conversation catching up on life.

God was really moving in her life and she was very excited to share all of her godly good news with me. We stood in the middle of the cereal aisle for a very long time, laughing and celebrating all of the wonderful things God was doing. Before we said goodbye she encouraged me with a little thank you reminder,

“Thank you so much for always caring and asking me how I’m doing with God. I didn’t realize how much I really needed to share this with someone. God was so good to have you bump into me today! Thanks for always encouraging me to stay close to God.”

I responded with a smile, “No, the blessing was mine. God is good to use both of us in answering prayers!”

Do you enjoy conversations about what the Lord is doing in your life or what a friend is learning about the Lord even during their tough times? God wants us to talk with each other about Him in the good times and the tough times. Did you know that God writes a book in heaven with all of our conversations about Him when we are with our friends? He does. Look at Malachi 3:16 (NIV) “Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name.” This is such a great encouraging verse!

Mentoring is such a rewarding experience. Each mentoring moment we spend time talking with another person and sharing the goodness and fear of the LORD, He is listening and writes it down in a scroll of remembrance. Whether you are spending time with a close friend or family member or mentoring a younger woman of the next generation for Christ, your godly conversation is remembered and the LORD is taking notes.

Be encouraged. God is listening and loves to hear you giving Him the Glory and the Honor He is so worthy of. As you mentor other young believers of the next generation may you fill many scrolls in heaven with the conversations you have on the fear of the LORD. Start sharing and mentoring today and you will be blessed.

Thanks for the reminder of how important these conversations are to God. They delight His heart.

I think God is just waiting for us to ask that question each day. He is so ready to bring those encounters so He can write it down!!
