By Jayme Hull−

The older we get the harder it is to remember things. How many times have we retraced our steps trying to recall what we were supposed to do? We can either cry or laugh about it. God says laughter is always better medicine and He is correct.

When you are under attack with negative thoughts or discouraged after hearing how much evil and suffering happens in this world, what do you do? Almost every time I am meeting with a mentee, this question is asked?

My first response is always to turn these women back to Christ to find their answer.

Remembering who we are in Christ is the only answer to surviving the bad news happening around us.

Who do you say you are? Colossians 3:1 “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ…” You are a child of the King Jesus. When you remember and remind yourself that you belong to Christ, your fears will flee and His presence will remain. Your strength comes from your identity in Christ.

“When we get lost on the inside, most of us start to panic. We wander from relationship to relationship, from activity to activity in an attempt to find our way.  Perhaps what we need to do is just sit down. God will find us if we wait.” Tim Hansel

Many women today are extremely busy; over extended or overwhelmed so they are fighting exhaustion, anxiety or depression.  When I discuss these subjects with the women I mentor I very quickly direct the heart of the conversation to the strength of God.

Does your life need renewed? Do you worry about your past and are you weary of the future? You are not alone. This past year has been full of its ups and downs to say the least and what you and I do with the events of life will shape our future.

God promises if we trust Him and live for Him our hearts will be full and sustained with joy and strength.

“He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age.” (Ruth 4:15 NIV)

“…but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. (Isaiah 40:31 NIV)

Mentoring is a gift from God for each one of us as mature believers. As we pour our time and lives into the next generation God will use us to replace the negative influences of this world.

Would you like to help replace the lies of this world with the truth of Jesus Christ?

All it will take is the courage of godly women to reach out and accept the challenge from God to change the world with His Truth, one person at a time. “Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives.” (Colossians 3:16 NLT)

How to mentor the younger generation is simply stated in Scripture for all godly men and women. “And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” (Colossians 3:17 NLT)

Let’s get started and prepare for God to use us this year by memorizing Scripture together. “The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9) Be encouraged as we carry out the call to be the Mentor God wants us to be.
