“Silence is praise to you, Zion-dwelling God, and also obedience. You hear the prayer in it all.

We all arrive at your doorstep sooner or later, loaded with guilt, our sins too much for us— but you get rid of them once and for all.

Blessed are the chosen! Blessed the guest at home in your place! We expect our fill of good things in your house, your heavenly manse. All your salvation wonders are on display in your trophy room.

Earth-Tamer, Ocean-Pourer, Mountain-Maker, Hill-Dresser, Muzzler of sea storm and wave crash, of mobs in noisy riot—

Far and wide they’ll come to a stop, they’ll stare in awe, in wonder. Dawn and dusk take turns calling, “Come and worship.”

Ps 65:1-8 MSG

This morning, in my time with the Lord, this scripture burst from the page and filled my heart to the point that I could not contain my tears.

Why is it a challenge to trust Him when it is so clear that His love for us surpasses everything we know and understand? Why do we question His willingness to act on our behalf and best interest, even though we know He has the ability?

Look at what these verses tell us in a nutshell: He forgives the overwhelming burden of our sin and sends it packing forever. He welcomes us into a mansion prepared for His chosen where we will find good things. The trophy room of all that He has done will be open for us and we will see who He is with new eyes – Earth-Tamer, Ocean-Pourer, Mountain-Maker, Hill-Dresser, Muzzler of sea storm and wave crash, of mobs in noisy riot. All will see and the earth itself will cry out for us to worship the One true God.

Amazing. Words are not sufficient to acknowledge such a glorious and magnificent God. He’s even covered that. He hears praise in our silence and obedience. He hears the prayers in it all. Provision again.

I remember silence. It’s happened occasionally over the years, but it’s often hard to come by these days. Too much noise in my life. Not bad stuff, but definitely deafening at times. Once again, faithful Father has a plan . Fear, worry, pain? It’s the stuff of storm and wave crash in our everyday. Busy-ness, distraction, work, home, kids? He can muzzle that noisy riot.

So today, while I sat with tears streaming down my cheeks at the goodness, provision and love I found in His word, I sat in silence. It was good to get reacquainted.

Come and worship.

I am “wife” to my high school sweetheart, Ron, who showed me the path to become a Christ follower 38 years ago. “Mom” to three incredible sons. “Gigi” to two perfect grandboys. I am a transplanted Californian who has been a proud Texan for almost 7 years and I love the Lone Star state!

I am optimistically “mid-life” and excited about the next stage of life and what God has for me now. I want so much to see experienced women find their passion and place in the body of Christ, show up – and finish strong. One of my favorite quotes comes from author Agatha Christie, who said, “I have enjoyed greatly the second blooming… suddenly you find – at the age of 50, say – that a whole new life has opened before you.”

Deanna His presence is like no other place I’ve ever experienced. Are you the Deanna Baker I knew from Fontana 30 years ago by any chance?

    Deb,
So refreshing and a great reminder that His presence does not happen by accident. It is something I do on purpose.
