Can you remember the game show in the early 90’s called Supermarket Sweep? Three or four teams of two people each would hear the word announced by the emcee: “GO!” Off they would run in a crazy frenzy down the grocery aisles, each couple pushing their grocery carts in a panic to try and fill their basket with all kinds of groceries. Their goal: to have the highest grocery bill to win the grand prize. As a bonus, they could be invited back to the show the following week and play to win again. As a spectator watching the game on TV or as a grown-up watching my kiddos play sports, I knew the “players” needed encouragement and would yell “Go Team Go!” Oh, those were the days.

Now it is time to picture God saying to all of us, “GO ladies.” It’s time to let Him be in control and choose to agree by saying, “OK God here we GO!” Like so many other great Bible Heroes before us:

Abraham in Gen 12:4 after hearing God’s calling responded immediately by moving, “So Abram left, as the Lord had told him.

Noah in Gen. 6 heard God’s voice command him to build an ark and verse 22 states,”And Noah did everything just as God commanded him.”

Mary, in Luke 1:38, replies to the angel, “I am the Lord’s servant, may it be unto me as you have said.”

And there are so many other Scriptures to encourage us to have a bold walk to follow Jesus in His commandments.

Before anyone begins a mentoring relationship it is important to acknowledge the two main goals in undertaking this responsibility. The number one goal is to ultimately glorify God in each of our lives. The second goal is to always make God the resource and reference point in everything we do. If those two main goals are at the heart of each shared time between the two women, God is blessed. There are no guarantees that life will not have its trials and tribulations but God promises to be with us before, during and after, each and every moment.

When we reread Titus 2:3-5 the Scripture doesn’t say that we are to teach; it says we are to train the younger woman. The mentor is to encourage and equip the younger woman to do life God’s way. There is no greater privilege than to train others in the ways of the Lord. Like Paul and so many others in the Bible, we too, can continue to learn and train to grow and mature in our personal walk with Christ on a daily basis.
No one is ever too old or too wise to learn and grow. If you are seeking to grow in your personal walk with the Lord, then welcome aboard because you qualify to mentor and train others.

There are incredible eternal benefits to mentoring younger women in their faith. Most importantly, God will be glorified, which makes everything worth it.

It is not just our duty, but it is our privilege to guide and help other women become the godly woman they were created by God to be. So, Get Ready……Get Set…..Go!
God is calling you to follow Him.

2 Cor. 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
